Nantah Pioneering Spirit
This spirit is what the world needs. It is to create and build up something together for the benefit of others, with unrelenting determination against all hardship. This painting shows people in ties and white suits walking apprehensively across a wet muddy field after a meeting at the construction site of the Nanyang University main building. This university (nickname Nantah) was funded by extensive communal donations in the early 1950s during Singapore's colonial days.
