Life's Journey
This artwork is shown installed in a courtyard of the Teochiew Building. It shows in stages the whole life's journey of many of us, from baby, adulthood, marriage to old age. .. This is however what we would like our life's journey to be. Is it an ideal? Has it assumed many things that may not always occur? ..
Firstly it assumes we live in a peaceful environment around us. It assumes we have access to schools and colleges or universities and can go through and graduate from them. It assumes we find a life's partner to get married, give birth safely to bring up a family together. It assumes we enjoy our senior years together and look after each other even when sickness strikes. ..
Do we sometimes take these for granted? This is not always true. If some of these do not happen to us, do we just consider them as our misfortunes that are beyond our control? ..
